The painting Life Beyond The Veil is a journey through a landscape in the realms of spirit.
I created the Painting Life Beyond The Veil following a meditation. The idea of a journey through a landscape was forged into my mind with the main focal point being a distant crest on the horizon.
Following the meditation I was inspired to create a large pencil sketch which is shown here on newsprint sketching paper. This measures 50×70 cm.
As I was sketching I felt the ideas relating to energy creation and information capture entering my awareness, however further understanding would not come until later. The tall bamboo like canes were added to the sketch followed by the funnel like turrets, I only had a vague idea what the purpose of these structures was.
The initial challenge was to get past the self doubt and procrastination which I am very good at. Despite having the pencil sketch which gave me the basis of the composition I was still unsure as to how to achieve the painting. As usual however I need not have worried, as once I started the process the artwork evolved. I do believe that meditating and going within before I start painting helps me enormously.
Several weeks passed before I began the painting and in that time I received further insights and ideas regarding the structures. The energy creation structures are naturally growing tall fronds. They have single strand leaves and move a bit like seaweed in water. Each alternate leaf has a positive or negative charge and as the fronds swish passed each other a current is created which flows down the main stem. This energy can be utilised for creation.
The funnel like turrets are information capture devices. All information that exists is available to us all the time, some have called it the Akashic Records. Each nano particle of life force is like a hologram, bearing in mind that we are talking about the non-physical world, and I use these terms for explanatory purposes only. All the information that there is, is available to us at any time. We however are a) limited as to how much information we can process given our stage of development and b) have to learn how to best access the information. The dome structures in the painting were created to help souls tap into the records and utilise them for benefit and development. As souls develop they become proficient at accessing the universal source and have no need for such devices.
In addition to the fronds and funnels the image includes beautiful vistas of natural habitat, city scapes and an overarching feeling of vibrant life. It is a vision of a place of wonder where souls can not only rest and recuperate after a physical life, but are able to continue to learn and develop.
The addition of the Heron symbolises patience, self-reliance, and mindful spiritual journeys. An Elephants footprint was added to symbolise stability and patience.
The painting was started in the lower third of the painting with texture past added with stencils. I then created wet colour combinations using acrylic paints and inks. Further layers were added with acrylic paint and acrylic spray colour. Before the final phase I fixed the painting with an acrylic spray matt varnish. The painting was finished with glazes of oil colour which add life and a level of vibrancy and energy that cannot be achieved with acrylic alone.
The painting measures just over 50×70 centimetres and is designed to fit stretchers of that size with the art wrapping around the sides.
