Lost and Found Oil Painting

Lost and Found Oil Painting is produced using a mixed media process on Saunders Waterford watercolour paper and measures 70cm x 50cm.
I began the painting with water based media applying cling film and salt for added texture. Spray paint was then used to create the effect of fog. The painting was then sealed prior to applying oil colours for added depth, spatter to enhance the fog effect and finally the seabird skimming the water.
The painting represents the continued cycles of life, water in its greatest state as the ocean and lightest state as fog and mists. Between these states water can achieve a level of fineness where it is not visible to the naked eye.
The title Lost and Found represents these states of water and also the potential visibility and invisibility of the sea bird in over a misty sea.
